In a bizarre turn of events, a Swiggy user, Ravi Handa, uncovered a slew of fake Domino's Pizza outlets on the food delivery platform, raising questions about trademark infringement and customer deception. Handa exposed the deceptive spree through a screenshot, revealing a chain of Domino's Pizza stores with subtly tweaked spellings across his locality in Kolkata.
Handa tagged Swiggy, pointing out the issue, "This is clearly a fraud. Only one of these is genuine. Why are you letting this happen? Why isn't Domino's objecting to blatant violation of trademark."
The gravity of the situation deepened as Handa shared another screenshot showcasing a past order listing, complete with ratings. He emphasized, "This isn't just a joke. Someone close to me actually fell for it. They realized it only after they got the delivery and saw the box."

In reality, these outlets are local vendors capitalizing on the iconic brand's popularity and delivering their products. While some spelling errors are too glaring to be missed (such as “Dokinos” or “Daminos”) many are subtle (“Dominos Pizza”.)
Similar incidents in the past led to a popular coffee chain in Delhi “Sardarbaksh Coffee” getting a lawsuit from Starbucks which forced them to change their name to “Sardar-ji baksh”.
