Residents living in and around Hyderabad's Khairtabad area were in for shock on Wednesday evening when a medium-sized crocodile was spotted on a road opposite to an open drainage channel.
As per a Times of India report, the reptile was spotted on the road at 6:30 pm after water levels in the area rose, following heavy rains. The crocodile was perched on the road near a Ganesh pandal and later tried to get back into the drainage channel but got stuck in the passage between the metal rods and walls of the channel.
The residents called the police and forest officials, who arrived in 30 minutes to retrieve the reptile.

A team of close to 20 officials tried to bend the rods where the reptile was stuck, but the efforts went in vain. They then tied a knot to capture the crocodile while trying to lay a trap at the same time.
At around 10 pm, the officials managed to pull the reptile out to safety by using ropes and sticks and took the reptile away for further assessment.
