Ken Griffin has done it again. The billionaire CEO of Citadel treated hundreds of employees and their family members to an all-expenses-paid trip to Walt Disney World in Tokyo, Japan.
According to Bloomberg, Griffin paid for around 1,200 people, including 300 children, to spend a long weekend in Tokyo to celebrate Citadel’s 30th anniversary. Employees came together from six of the companies' offices in Asia Pacific -- Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Gurugram – for the celebratory long weekend.
The celebrations took place between October 27 to October 29. Citadel spokesperson Yin Ai told The New York Post that “Ken paid for the entire anniversary events, travel, hotels, food, park tickets, entertainment and childcare.” To ensure that employees would not spend too much time waiting in line, Griffin bought expresses passes for the workforce to use at Disney World.
Not only did he shell out for employees and their families to enjoy Disney, Griffin also treated them to a private performance from Maroon 5 and Calvin Harris during an official anniversary celebration party on Saturday.
“Today, the range of talent we have brought together is simply astonishing. We've created not one, but two firms at the forefront of the industry. Together, we have imagined and built the future of finance,” he said at Saturday’s event before introducing Maroon 5. Along with Citadel’s 30th anniversary, Griffin was also referring to Citadel Securities’ 20th anniversary.
US, Canada, and Europe employees of Citadel and Citadel Securities had celebrated last year with a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida.
