A Chennai-based steel design firm has made headlines for an extraordinary act of employee appreciation. In a move aimed at boosting morale and productivity, the company gifted 28 cars and 29 bikes to its workforce as part of its Diwali celebrations, turning dreams into reality for many of its employees, Vartha Bharati, a Kannada daily reported.
Team Detailing Solutions, which specialises in structural steel design and detailing, has a relatively small but highly skilled team of around 180 employees. Most of these individuals come from modest backgrounds, and the Diwali gifts, which included vehicles from big brands like Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and even Mercedes-Benz, were meant to recognise their hard work and dedication.
Sridhar Kannan, the Managing Director of the company, shared his thoughts on the initiative, explaining that the gifts were not random but a reflection of the employees’ exceptional performance.
“We wanted to show our appreciation for their tireless efforts in driving the company’s success. We believe our employees are our greatest assets. Our employees have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication, and we are proud to recognise their achievements,” Kannan told Vartha Bharati.
This isn’t the first time the company has surprised its staff with lavish gifts. In 2022, the firm awarded cars to two senior employees. But this year, the scale was much larger. “We have been gifting bikes to employees for years, and in 2022, we gifted cars to two senior colleagues. This year, we have gifted 28 cars. Some of them are Maruti Suzukis, Hyundais, and Mercedes-Benz,” Kannan explained.
Beyond these extravagant gifts, the company has also been proactive in supporting its employees in other areas of life. For instance, it has increased the financial assistance provided for weddings from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The company was founded in 2005.
While the company chooses the vehicles for workers, if the employee wishes to get one costing higher than the budget, they may pay the remaining amount and get the car of their choice, Times of India reported.
The company's gestures are part of a broader strategy to foster a positive work culture, where employees feel motivated and valued. “The idea is to boost morale, motivation, and productivity,” Kannan said, adding that the firm’s focus remains on employee development and customer satisfaction.
