Biryani is the most-ordered dish on Zomato in 2023.

Zomato has revealed its food-ordering trends in 2023 with the usual suspects, biryani and pizza, continuing to dominate the charts. While over 10.09 crore biryani orders were placed through the platform, pizza followed with over 7.45 crore orders.

The year's biryani orders in 2023 are enough to fill eight Qutub Minars in Delhi and the pizzas can cover an area of more than five Eden Garden cricket stadiums in Kolkata, Zomato said.

Noodle bowls came third with over 4.55 crore. That's enough noodles to wrap the circumference of the earth 22 times, the delivery giant said.

Bengaluru, which was crowned the cake capital by Swiggy, placed the maximum breakfast orders on Zomato in 2023. Delhi users, meanwhile, showed the opposite trend, placing the higher number of late-night orders.

Zomato's biggest order of the year came from Bengaluru, where a user placed a single order worth Rs 46,273. Meanwhile, a user in Mumbai placed 121 orders in just one day. There are more such unusual orders, with another one being a Bengaluru user sending 1,389 gift orders worth Rs 6.6 lakh via Zomato.

Zomato crowned a Mumbai resident as the "nation's biggest foodie". The user, named Hanees, placed 3,580 orders in 2023, averaging nine orders in a day.

Biryani was the most-ordered dish for the eighth year in a row on Swiggy too, according to the food delivery platform’s year-ender report released recently. India ordered 2.5 biryanis per second in 2023. A Hyderabad man ordered 1,633 biryanis this year. Hyderbabd saw the highest biryani orders on Swiggy, with every sixth order for the dish from the city. Swiggy too revealed some of its unusual orders. Take the case of a Mumbai man who placed food orders worth Rs 42.3 lakh in 2023.
