Dhurandhar smashes US box office, breaks into Top 5 as worldwide haul crosses Rs 500 crore

Dhurandhar isn’t slowing down anywhere. What started as a strong domestic opening has now turned into a full-blown global wave, with the Aditya Dhar spy thriller crossing the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide. The film, which released on December 5, has rewritten the commercial playbook for Bollywood espionage dramas and is holding its momentum with surprising force.

Most films peak in their first week, soften in the second, and then glide to a halt. Dhurandhar has taken the opposite route. Its second weekend has been explosive, especially in overseas markets. The ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Danish Pandor, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Saumya Tandon has clearly struck a chord with audiences across continents.

The real headline grabber is the US box office. In its second week, Dhurandhar ranked No. 4 across the country, a rare feat for a Hindi action thriller competing with holiday-season Hollywood releases. According to Jio Studios, the film is currently playing on 377 screens and collected 3.45 million dollars over the weekend, which works out to roughly Rs 31.25 crore. For context, very few Indian films make it into the US Top 5 beyond opening weekend. Dhurandhar is doing it in Week 2, which signals strong word-of-mouth from non-South Asian viewers as well.

Trade sources now estimate Dhurandhar’s worldwide gross at over Rs 530 crore. The film had a massive Rs 270 crore opening week globally, and instead of tapering off, it pushed through with an additional Rs 80 crore during the second weekend alone. The ripple effect from India appears to be fuelling overseas performance, creating a feedback loop that is keeping the film buoyant across markets. Exhibitors are adding more shows, and advance bookings indicate stable weekday collections going forward.

Back home, Dhurandhar is rewriting charts with almost clinical precision. Its second Saturday numbers surpassed films like Chhava, Saiyaara, Gadar 2, Animal and Jawan. By Day 9, the film had outpaced the Hindi versions of Pushpa 2, Stree 2, Baahubali 2 and The Kashmir Files. The next big milestone on its radar is Yash’s KGF 2, long considered one of the toughest benchmarks for Hindi theatrical business.
