Bengaluru man recalls how he exchanged business cards with traffic cop after getting fined: 'A solution was arrived at'

A Bengaluru man took to X (formerly Twitter) to narrate an incident from 2012 in which he and two of his friends were stopped by traffic cops and fined Rs 500 for not carrying the pollution control certificate in their car and he ended up exchanging business cards with the traffic cop.

The past few years have witnessed a surge in the number of interesting Peak Bengaluru moments, which has left the public either in splits or amazed over what they had just read or seen.

In an addition to that ever-growing list of moments, a man took to X (formerly Twitter) to narrate an incident that took place in 2012 in which he and two of his friends were stopped by traffic cops and fined Rs 500 for not carrying the pollution control certificate in their car.

Aashish Bansal recalled how his friends rushed to the nearest ATM to withdraw the money to pay the fine and on returning to the location, saw him exchange business cards with one of the traffic cops, who ran an advertising agency and how the scene had turned into an opportunity to discuss about the advertising industry, which he had joined in 2010.

"Two friends had come down from Australia and we were at the 13th Floor for a night out. Those were the days when Bengaluru had not been introduced to microbreweries and the IRR wasn't plagued by incessant traffic after 10 PM."

"Out of the four of us, one person was the designated driver and did not indulge in booze, as we knew that a checkpoint at Domlur would obviously be in place by the cops," the man wrote in a post on Thursday.

Bansal also said one of the reasons why he was able to have the freewheeling conversation with the cop was the lack of traffic on the road at 11 pm on a Saturday night- something that is hard to imagine in today's times.

"I was exchanging business cards with one of the traffic marshals. This volunteer ran an advertising agency and I had just gotten into advertising 2 years back."

"There was a long chat about how things were, and it ended in this exchange of business cards. It helped that there was very less traffic on that Saturday night at Domlur at 11 PM - can't imagine that now," he wrote.

One of the users replied to the man's post asking whether they eventually paid the fine or not and Bansal replied saying they did pay the amount and even got a receipt in return.
