Apple iPhone 13 series launch date is rumoured for September 14. We are still a few months away from the 2021 iPhone launch event, Meanwhile, details of the 2022 iPhone have surfaced on the web. A new report claims that all four iPhone 14 models will get the ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate display.
Previous reports claimed the iPhone 13 Pro models will feature a 120Hz OLED display. The standard iPhone 13 models are likely to feature 60Hz models. A report by The Elec claims that the next year’s iPhone models will have 120Hz as standard. It claims that LG, one of the suppliers for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini display panels, will convert its production lines to supply 120Hz display for the iPhone 14 series.
Apple plans to launch four iPhone models in 2022 in two screen sizes. These four 2022 iPhone models will have a 6.1 and 6.7-inch display. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously stated that some of the 2022 Apple iPhone models will abandon the notch and come with a hole-punch cutout that we see on most Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (Review), Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (Review), OnePlus 9 (Review), etc.
The analyst speculates that only the Pro models will come with a hole-punch display. However, if the production yields are good enough, all iPhone 14 models will come with a hole-punch display. It is unknown if Apple will kill the Face ID tech that is housed inside the notch or will it find some other solution to retain the sensors. Kuo had also stated that the 2022 iPhone Pro models will get a 48MP primary camera. The main camera will support pixel-binning with a 12MP output. The top-end iPhones will also support 8K video recording.
