Google recently announced a host of new AI features at its Cloud Next 2024 event in Las Vegas and most of them are aimed at improving its Workspace suite. One of the major highlights of the event was the introduction of Google Vids, which is an AI-powered video creation tool.
Google calls it a video, writing, production, and editing assistant that will become part of the Google Workspace productivity suite when it’s released. Here’s everything you need to know about Google Vids and its other details.
Google Vids: How it works and other details
Aparna Pappu, VP & GM at Google Workspace introduced the Google Vids tool and said that it is a “video creation app for work”. With the help of AI, the tool will generate a storyboard that can be customised by choosing different styles or templates.
Google Vids then will pick appropriate images, videos, and background music from its preset stock library to create a suitable video based on your prompts. It will also help you add voiceover if you want to add your voice, or you can also select an AI preset voice to speed up the process. It is likely to help users create short videos for presentations, projects among other things.
Once you have created the desired video on Vids, you can share it with others with a play button. It will also allow the users with whom you have shared the video to comment, leave notes, or even edit the video.
From June 2024, Google will take feedback from users to improve or fine-tune this tool and will have a stable public rollout at a later date.
Google Vids will be available as a web app alongside Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Slides with an easy-to-use interface. Eventually, it will also be available for users with Gemini for Workspace subscriptions.
