Frostpunk 2 comes to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Frostpunk 2 arrives on consoles

Post-apocalyptic city-building game Frostpunk 2 has launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. After facing multiple delays, the city-builder survival game has finally arrived on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

As per the developer, Frostpunk 2 for consoles comes with “refined controls allowing players to guide the politics and people of New London with the palms of their hands, on PS5 controller. Several improvements help tailor the control scheme for gamepads and provide quick access to vital actions.”

In the December 2024 roadmap for Frostpunk 2, the Warsaw-based game developer revealed its plans to launch the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025. The game had already launched on PC in 2024. By March, the launch window had been narrowed down to the summer of 2025. Towards the end of July 2025, 11 Bit Studios pushed the Frostpunk 2 console release date to September 18, 2025.

Along with the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Frostpunk 2 on PC has also received full controller support with Patch 1.4. The new game patch brings full controller support, an improved UI, and prologue balance updates to the PC version of Frostpunk 2.

Frostpunk 2 on PC: New Gamepad UI and Circular Menu
Once players connect their gamepads, they’ll experience “a redesigned UI built specifically for smooth navigation on the controller”, said the developers in a post on Steam. They can “use the bumper buttons to cycle between districts of the same type and interact with a dynamic radial menu that appears over resource piles, showing context-specific actions.”

The circular interface from Frostpunk: Console Edition is now reimagined and rebuilt “for the new challenges” of Frostpunk 2, since the sequel plays very differently than the first game.
