In major deals worth Rs 2,850 crore, homegrown companies today announced acquisitions of assets from global firms with Sun Pharma buying DUSA Pharmaceuticals of the US and Magma FinCorp purchasing GE Capital's India mortgage business.
While there are no signs of the boom ending in the auto loan space, questions are arising as to when the higher cost of lending will start to play catch up. Sanjay Chamria, VC & MD of Magma Fincorp Ltd in an interview on CNBC-TV18 said the cost of borrowings has been going up right from August-September onwards.
The Government seems to be firm on pursuing further reforms and the intention is articulated by the Finance Minister in his budget speech seeking to introduce bills on banking, insurance; pensions and companies in this fiscal which will restore confidence of the foreign investors.
