The IRSTMU, in a letter dated February 27 and written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, highlighted these anomalies and suggested that employees should be allowed to give their preferences for vacant positions and decisions should be taken keeping that in mind.

"Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was scheduled to attend this historic event but he has to go to Qatar for some important work so he joined us virtually to release the commemorative postage stamp," he said.
The train was flagged off from Sambalpur towards Visakhapatnam and will run as a special train. The regular service in the extended portion of this train will commence from November 22 from Visakhapatnam and from Banaras on the next day.
At present, the railways is carrying about 800 crore passengers annually. We have to increase the capacity to 1,000 crore in four to five years as the population is growing, Vaishnaw told reporters at the Rail Bhawan here.
To make Indore a major centre of railways, work is underway on projects worth thousands of crores of rupees for laying new rail lines in six directions of the city, doubling the railway line, and gauge conversion. These projects include the Ratlam-Indore-Mhow-Khandwa-Akola rail line, Indore-Manmad rail line, Indore-Dahod rail line, and Indore-Jabalpur rail line.
"Our total budget for 2023-24 is Rs 2.4 lakh crore, out of which we have already spent Rs 1.4 lakh crore in the first half of the current financial year. This is 59 per cent of the total budget," Vaishnaw said.
The trains will initially run on narrow-gauge heritage routes operated by the Kalka-Shimla Railway, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, the Matheran Hill Railway, and others.
Addressing a press conference through video link from Delhi, Vaishnaw said that the allocation in the 2023-24 Budget for Maharashtra was 11 times the average allocation between 2009 to 2014.
