More than 4,000 screens participated in the initiative on Friday including cinema chains like PVR INOX, Cinepolis, Miraj, Citypride, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, Moviemax, Rajhans, NY Cinemas, Delite and others. The tickets were priced at Rs 99 across theatres.

Multiplex Association of India informed deputy chief minister of bankruptcies facing cinemas in the face of multiple lockdowns induced by Covid since March 2020.
Under the Unlock 5.0 guidelines, cinemas, theatres, multiplexes have been permitted to open with 50 percent seating from October 15.
The cinema body, which represents all the multiplex chains, including, PVR, INOX and Cinepolis, said the sector directly employs more than two lakh people and provides employment to lakhs indirectly.
A set of SOPs drawn up by the Multiplex Association of India in collaboration with its members was submitted to various Central ministries as well as Prime Minister's Office and Niti Aayog earlier this month, said industry leaders INOX, PVR Pictures and Cinepolis India.
