Iphone

Apple flagship product, the iPhone, was first introduced in 2007 by Steve Jobs who pitched it as an amalgamation of a fully-functional web browser, music player and a phone. The smartphone has been released annually and is considered one of the largest smartphone platforms in the world, second only to Google's Android. While the design of the phone has changed from one iteration to the next, the basic functionality of the device has remained the same. It utilizes an user interface built around multi-touch, which has evolved along with the hardware. The iPhone ecosystem has revolutionised the app industry since launch, with roughly 2.2 million apps (Q1 2021) currently available for Apple's smartphone. Apple's App store outlined the blueprint for app delivery and hosting that has been followed by much of the competition. The App Store is widely recognised for creating a large app market economy for users and developers. The iPhone has generated massive profits for Apple since launch and contributes heavily to its bottom line. It has also been credited with popularising the slate form factor, which most touch screen phones use today. The software that powers the iPhone - iOS - is also an industry leader for usability and features. Apple also puts a major focus on privacy and security. More
