Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 108th Indian Science Congress (ISC) via video conferencing on January 3. The theme for this year’s Science Congress is 'Science Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment.'
The previous edition of the Indian Science Congress, a key event in the science calendar, was held in Bengaluru in January 2020. The five-day 108th session of ISC will take place at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, which is celebrating its centenary this year.
The focal theme of this year's Science Congress is "Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment."
The Indian Science Congress will also see Children’s Science Congress organised to help stimulate scientific interest and temperament among kids.
The theme for ISC-2019 is 'Future India-Science and Technology' and it will be hosted by the Lovely Professional University (PLU), Jalandhar from January 3-7, a statement said.
As many as 12 nobel laureates, who had confirmed their participation in the ISC, have backed out due to change of dates from January to March.
