The next-gen Renault Duster comes not only with new styling but new engine options. In fact, while adding new hybrid tech to their petrol range, Renault has done away with the old diesel powertrains.
This February, the Renault-Nissan alliance announced investments of around Rs 5,300 crore in the country.
He emphasised that internal combustion engine vehicles will continue to coexist with EVs, and said that the company will bring its flex-fuel engine technology to India if there’s a demand.
Renault has equipped the Duster with dual airbags, ABS, parking sensors and speed warning as standard across all variants.
The teaser reveals that the SUV has received noticeable aesthetic changes. It gets a new grille with chrome studs, a new headlamp cluster and a bulging bonnet for better crash protection.
Renault has not touched the engine, however, and it continues with its 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.

Renault India will be opening 30 more dealerships by December, taking their number to 270 as against the earlier plan of 240, to meet growing demand for flagship entry-level car Kwid that has become a runaway success for the French auto major.
"In the first quarter of calendar 2016, the market share was 4.1 percent, with 4.9 percent in March alone", Renault India VP (sales and marketing), Rafael Treguer said.
French car major Renault today said it expects to double sales during the current year on the back of strong performance forecast of its newly-launched Kwid.
The company also plans to display Eolab, its plug-in hybrid, besides a special edition of its multi-purpose vehicle Lodgy at the bi-ennial event, which is scheduled to be held on February 5-9 at Greater Noida.
The Kwid will take on established players like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai in the segment. While Maruti Alto800 is priced between Rs 2.52 lakh and Rs 3.72 lakh, Hyundai Eon is priced between Rs 3.10 lakh and Rs 4.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The SUV-like Renault Kwid was first unveiled as a concept at the Auto Expo 2014. It will be priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 4 lakh.
Chairman & CEO of Renault Nissan, Carlos Ghosn was in the country this week to unveil its new entry level hatchback, KWID. Renault which has a 1.5 percent market share in India, thanks mainly to the success of Duster is looking to increase that to 5 percent in the next 12 months.
The new range boasts of superior engineering, all-new safety and comfort features and improved fuel efficiency, made possible by several technical and design enhancements, the company said in a statement.
"India is a strong market for Renault and we have strong presence in the country. We will launch MPV Lodgy by month-end or early next month. "After that we will also launch sub-Rs 4 lakh small car. It will be a global car," Renault India Country CEO and MD Sumit Sawhney told reporters.
Within companies, Asian firms (Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda and Nissan) continued their strong showing in the Indian market while American and European companies (Chevrolet, Ford, Renault, Volkswagen and Fiat) witnessed their market share come off, compared to a year ago.
Japanese car-maker Nissan and French car-maker Renault are focusing on their own paths in India and are relying on recent and new launches to drive growth. Nissan wants to push its low-cost model Datsun GO, which was launched in Feb amidst much fanfare.
Renault is planning to launch the Duster with four wheel drive by middle of this year. The 4X4 Duster however will continue to be sold as the pre face-lift model.
The company's wholly owned unit Renault India sells five models in India, including the sports utility vehicle Duster and compact car Pulse.
The company will provide details of the increases later and said that "this (price hike) will be as per industry standards."

The Standing Committee on Finance has called the government's move to impose additional tax on SUVs as discriminatory. Chairman of the Committee Yashwant Sinha has written to P Chidambaram opposing the move to Tax SUVs and he wants luxury cars to be taxed instead.
French car maker Renault has had huge success in the Indian car market with its compact SUV, the Duster. The company is now looking to expand its Indian product line up with more variants.
Boosted by its new models, Renault India today reported over 32-fold jump in sales in December last year at 5,924 units. In the same month previous year, the company had only two products- sedan Fluence and sports utility vehicle Koleos- in the Indian market and had sold 185 units.
