Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), a government enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways, is at present carrying out construction of 3,342km eastern and western freight corridors for exclusively movement of goods trains.
Currently passenger trains get preference over the movement of freight trains on the busy tracks across the country which causes delay and uncertainty over the time schedule for delivery of goods.
Railways on Friday assured the industry that the ambitious Rs 81,459 cr worth 'Dedicated Freight Corridor' (DFC) project, meant for faster goods movement, will be completed by 2019.
