'Youth, women will play a decisive role in determining the outcome of 2024 polls': Narendra Modi

Earlier today, the Prime Minister "specially" urged women voters and youth voters to vote in large numbers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview to CNN-News18 has said the youth and women will play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the ongoing parliamentary polls.

Referring to the aspirational youth, the Prime Minister said those born in the 21st century are now in the age-group of 20-25. Most of them have exercised their democratic right in election. Their aspirations are aligned with the aspirations of a "new India". "They have seen the nation grow in the last 10 years and are cognisant of the fact that only a strong stable and a decisive government can fulfil their aspirations," underlined the PM.

He added that over the last few years, the Centre, under his leadership, has worked to speed up the country's development in keeping with the growing aspirations of the youth.

Commenting on the women electorate, the PM said the group is realising the power of her vote and using it to direct her own and the nation’s destiny. Women are not just voting but also making up their own mind on who they want to vote for. In 2019, for the first time ever, BJP became the party with the highest number of female votes.

Commenting on his government's priorities, he said, Modi led NDA was not limited to social empowerment or financial independence for women. The mandate was to deliver both, in adequate proportions, depending on the educational, social and economic position of the beneficiary.

"For a woman who not only had to work her way through gender-bias, but often work doubly hard to prove her mettle, times have changed significantly both at personal and professional fronts. As investors look beyond gender, it must be noted that shift in opportunities and resources for women can be observed in both rural and urban areas," underlined the PM.
