In an interview to Hindustan Times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the importance of politics of 21st century that resonate with the voters. The politics of 21st century should talk about performance, vision to take the country forward, and a road map to make a developed India, said the Prime Minister.

In the interview, PM also endorsed the idea of simultaneous polls, and alleged that the Opposition is attempting to divide the country on the basis of caste and religion. He spoke about the scorching temperatures affecting turnouts and the reason he chose his electoral constituency of Varanasi, which goes to the polls in the seventh and final phase on June 1.

“Today people are asking what are you going to do for our children, then they (the Opposition) are talking about their father, grandfather, great grandfather, grandmother, great grandmother. When people ask what is the road map for the development of the country, then they start claiming that it is the family seat. They are dividing people into castes, raising issues related to religion, doing politics of appeasement,” he said.

Prime Minister has consistently maintained that  21st century will belong to India. He also added that the last decade has witnessed unprecedented development and progress.

"The India of the 21st century is moving ahead with full confidence in its youth. As a result, today India's ranking in the 'innovation index' has improved. The number of patents has increased 7 times in the last 8 years. The unicorn count has also crossed 100. We do not believe that only the government has the solution to the problems," the PM has maintained this line of thought.

"This 25 year time period of 'Amritkaal' has brought unprecedented possibilities for you. These possibilities and resolutions are also directly related to your career growth. The success of youngsters like you in the next 25 years will decide the success of India. That's why I am very confident about all of you. India is proud of you. Your innovative mindset will take India to the top in the coming 25 years. There are solid reasons for my trust in all of you," the PM had communicated this in his earlier speeches.
