The fissures in the INDIA bloc are likely to deepen further as Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) has hinted at the possibility of a third front. The third front will likely be led by the party’s chief and former Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR).
Notably, KCR had tried raising a third front ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls too, only to withdraw quietly after taking heed of the lukewarm response.
The development comes on the heels of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann both announcing they will campaign solo in their respective states during the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The INDIA bloc is currently working to address internal disputes within the alliance. A day following the declaration from the Bengal and Punjab chief ministers, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had struck a conciliatory tone, claiming that the INDIA bloc will fight ‘anyay’ (injustice) together.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS are spreading hatred, violence and injustice. So, INDIA formation is going to fight ‘anyay’ together,” he stated while addressing a crowd during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
Jairam Ramesh too struck a diplomatic tone, emphasising Mamata Banerjee’s importance to the INDIA bloc.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sushil Gupta has announced that the party would contest all Lok Sabha seats in Haryana alone, dealing a significant blow to the Congress.
