Shehbaz Sharif was recently re-elected as the prime minister of Pakistan. The well-known politician and administrator came back for a second term after his brother Nawaz Sharif's abortive attempt to win a fourth term as the prime minister in the February 8 elections.

In 2019, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) froze 23 properties belonging to Sharif and his son, Hamza, accusing them of money laundering. He formed Formed Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a coalition of PML-N, the PPP and some other smaller opposition parties. He was then arrested in 2020 by NAB for money laundering.
