Mamata Banerjee arrived in London on Sunday as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening Bengal's ties with Britain


Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh has shared a series of pictures and videos from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent visit to London.

The CM was spotted jogging at London's Hyde Park in a white saree and slippers. Apart from wearing her signature white saree and slippers, the CM also wore a black cardigan and a shawl to beat London's cold weather.

"London. Morning. The Chief Minister said, 'Not a walk, just a warm-up. Video of Hyde Park.' A little later, going to the High Commission," Ghosh captioned the video.

Banerjee has was also seen jogging during her official visit to Spain in 2023. The Chief Minister had said she had  a "refreshing morning" in Madrid as she jogged in a saree and slippers. The message was clear: "Stay fit, stay healthy!"

She also attended a a high tea reception hosted by Indian high commissioner Vikram Doraiswam.

"It was a privilege to be hosted by Shri Vikram K. Doraiswami at India House, London, for a high tea reception. The gathering brought together a diverse spectrum of voices united in their commitment to strengthening Bengal-Britain ties. As we navigate a changing world, meaningful partnerships driven by trust are more vital than ever. Today’s exchange reaffirmed the immense potential that lies ahead," she said in a post on X.

Banerjee said she looks forward to "deepening Bengal's engagement with Britain and reinforcing our enduring ties".

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Saturday said it is a matter of pride that Banerjee is visiting Oxford University to deliver a lecture. He also said that whenever good things happen to the state, they make him happy.

"If anything good happens to Bengal, it makes us happy. Also we are proud that the CM is going to Oxford," Bose told reporters on the sidelines of a CII meet here. “It is a matter of pride that the CM (who is) from the land of Rabindranath Tagore has been invited there,” he said.

Banerjee's lecture at Oxford University is slated for March 27. During her stay, she will also meet industrialists on March 25 to seek investments for the state. She is expected to return between March 28 and 29.
