Bihar Elections 2025: Mahagathbandhan releases Bihar Election manifesto ‘Tejashwi Pran Patra’

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday hit out at the Mahagathbandhan after it released its manifesto for the Bihar Assembly elections, saying those promising a "new vision" for the state are themselves facing charges under IPC Section 420.

Addressing a press conference in Patna, Prasad said that the same leaders are also accused in the land-for-jobs scam, calling the Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) a "school of corruption."

"...Those who are claiming to give a new vision to Bihar are accused of 420. We did not say this. Fifteen days ago, the Delhi court framed charges. The trial is about to take place. They are also accused in land for jobs scam. RJD is a school of corruption. This is their past, this is their present, and this will also be their future..." Prasad said.

Earlier in the day, the Mahagathbandhan, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, released its manifesto titled 'Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran,' promising to pass a law within 20 days of forming government, to provide government jobs to one member of every family in the state.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday kicked off the election campaign of his party for the Bihar assembly elections, questioning why the eastern state cannot have a Muslim CM despite the minority community comprising 17 per cent of the state's population.

The Hyderabad MP lambasted the ruling NDA as well as the opposition INDIA bloc for allegedly "giving a raw deal" to the Muslim community.

Owaisi, whose party is contesting 32 assembly seats in the poll-bound state, launched his election campaign from Gopalganj, where he addressed a rally at a village 20 km away from the district headquarters.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that the "Modi-Nitish" government has strangled the aspirations of the youth in Bihar, left the state abandoned and pushed it into an abyss on every development parameter.

Gandhi asserted that now is the time for change and to reaffirm the Mahagathbandhan's resolve for justice. He made the remarks in a post on X, accompanied by a video of his interaction with Bihar's youth recently.

"A few days ago, I had a very interesting conversation with the youth of Bihar on -- education, health, employment -- every issue. And, there is only one culprit responsible for the deplorable state on all these counts -- the BJP-JDU government," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said in his post in Hindi.

"The Mahagathbandhan was the first to announce its chief ministerial candidates. It also released its manifesto first...This shows who is serious about Bihar... We decided from day one what we would do for Bihar...We have to get Bihar back on track...Today is a very auspicious day as the state of Bihar was waiting for this 'pran'," said Congress leader Pawan Khera.

On Tejashwi Yadav's "will do in 20 months what did not happen in 20 years" remark, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh says, "What did they do in 15 years? He was Deputy CM in 2015. In 2017, Nitish Kumar quit that alliance. Why? Because allegations of land-for-job were made against him (Tejashwi Yadav). CM told him to come clean. But he didn't because he had no clarification to give. What will a man who grew up among corruption know about the condition of Bihar and the pain of the people of the state. How will he transform the state?..."

Mahagathbandhan’s CM face and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav says, “Today, we are releasing the ‘Tejashwi Pran Patra’ - our manifesto, outlining our plan for the next five years. We want the NDA to announce their CM face and tell people about their vision and schemes. We have given a roadmap and a vision to make Bihar number one, while they only indulge in negativity and allegations.”

“Most promises will not be realistic; leaders, alliance and their policies do not have any connection with development,” says BJP leader and Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin on Mahagathbandhan.

JD(U) spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan says, "The INDIA bloc’s promises are nothing but false, an attempt to misguide people, and create confusion. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar himself is a manifesto - his work and governance speak louder than words."

Jokahri, Bhojpur, when asked if he will campaign from tomorrow, singer-actor and BJP member Pawan Singh says, "...I have to serve with a sense of service, as I receive orders."

He also says, "This is a big day. Today on #Chhath, we are meeting each other. I will also visit the ghat. So, let's stop political talks for today."
