The parents of the trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, expressed dissatisfaction with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe ahead of the verdict in the case.

In an interview with news agency ANI, the victim’s father said the CBI never called him anywhere during the investigation. “Our lawyer and CBI consistently told us not to go to the court. I have no idea about the recent court proceedings... CBI never called me anywhere, they came to our residence once or twice but whenever we asked them about the investigation, they always said it was underway,” he said.

The victim’s father further revealed that there were bites on his daughter’s neck, yet, a swab was not collected from there. “In the post-mortem report, there was no concrete evidence. CBI is not trying much. There is someone involved in this...In the DNA report, it can be seen that four men and two women were present there. We want all the people involved in this to be punished,” he said.

The verdict in the horrific rape and murder of the on-duty doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata will be announced today.

Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer serving with the Kolkata Police, was implicated in the crime against the postgraduate trainee at the state-run hospital in northern Kolkata on August 9 last year.

The judgement will be delivered by Anirban Das, the additional district and sessions judge of the Sealdah court, 57 days after the in-camera trial commenced on November 12.

Ahead of the verdict, the victim’s mother also voiced her dissatisfaction with the investigation. “What the police had done in five days, the CBI has done in five months,” she was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“There will be further investigation, we are not happy with the probe. We know that Sanjoy Roy is the culprit but he alone could not have committed such a crime in a 24×7 hospital. When all involved are punished, we will be satisfied. We did not want a CBI investigation… It was the court that decided that the CBI would probe the case,” she added further.

The Kolkata Police, which was investigating the case initially arrested Roy on August 10, a day after the medic's body was recovered from the seminar room of the hospital. The Calcutta High Court later transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
