Canada’s Liberal Party MP, Parm Bains, who accused India of “foreign interference”, has been named as a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) collaborator by journalist Sam Cooper and Independent MP Kevin Vuong.
Cooper presented evidence to the media, including an audio recording, at a press conference. Cooper and Vuong also shared the platform with Dr. Charles Burton, Senior Fellow, Sinopsis and Michel Juneau-Katsuya, former CSIS Asia-Pacific Desk Chief.
Cooper also identified a number of individuals, such as senators, journalists, a sitting Member of Parliament, and an advisor to the Premier of British Columbia at the Ottawa press conference. Apart from Bains, Cooper alleged that Liberal-appointed Senator Yuen Pau Woo, Liberal MP Mary Ng, and Conservative-appointed Senator Victor Oh collaborated with CCP-based influence networks.
According to Cooper, journalists associated with a group named “Canada Committee 100 Society” had supported Bains’s candidature for the 2021 federal elections. The “Canada Committee 100 Society” is closely connected to the Chinese United Front Overseas Leaders Group.

Cooper said Woo held a private meeting with members of the group in 2020. “Woo made it clear that he was against targeting Chinese groups peddling influence and interfering in Canadian elections,” said Cooper. “My confidence that he appeared to act for Beijing was bolstered by information from a person (Confidential Source 1), who confirmed that Senator Wu, appointed by Justin Trudeau, was under CSIS investigation.”
What did Bains say about India?
Liberal Party MP from Steveston—Richmond East constituency, Parm Bains, had recently accused Indian diplomats of carrying out “foreign interference” in Canada.
“Through Canada’s national taskforce and other investigative efforts, the RCMP has obtained evidence that demonstrates Indian agents and government officials supported: 1) Violent extremism in both nations…,” said Bains.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his party continued to face scrutiny over the alleged interference by Beijing in the 2019 and 2021 elections. Bains has repeatedly said he did not benefit from alleged Chinese interference in the 2021 elections in the country.
