The Indian Armed Forces have released the names of the Pakistani Army personnel and key police officials of the Punjab province who were at the funeral of terrorists offering prayers.
According to ANI, the funeral was attended by Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah who is Commander of the IV Corps of Lahore, Major General Rao Imran Sartaj of the 11th Infantry Division of Lahore, Brigadier Mohammad Furqan Shabbir, Dr Usman Anwar who is Inspector General of Punjab Police and Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth, Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab.
India said that more than 100 terrorists were killed in Operation Sindoor which was launched to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Operation Sindoor targeted a total of nine terror camps in PoJK and Pakistan
The funeral was conducted with full state honours, with coffins of terrorists being draped in the Pakistani flag.
The funeral of terrorists killed in Muridke was led by Abdul Rauf, a LeT commander who is a specially designated global terrorist by the US. Civil officials, and members of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD), founded by Hafiz Saeed, were also present.
These five terrorists were identified as Mudassar Khadian Khas and Khalid alias Abu Akasha of the LeT; and Mohammed Yusuf Azhar, Hafiz Mohammed Jaleel, and Mohammad Hassan Khan of the JeM.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, at a press briefing, showed a photograph showing uniformed Pakistani Army and police personnel praying behind the coffins of the slain terrorists.
“While Pakistan opposed listing the TRF at the UNSC, they attend funerals of those who carry out such attacks," Misri noted. He added that the May 7 airstrikes were directed only at “carefully selected terrorist infrastructure" and not against any civilian or military installations, countering Islamabad’s propaganda.
According to the Ministry of Defence, there are 21 terrorist camps identified in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan- Sawal Nala, Syed na Bilal, Maskar-e-Aqsa, Chelabandi, Abdullah bin Masood, Dulai, Garhi Habibullah, Batrasi, Balakot, Oghi, Boi, Sensa, Gulpur, Kotli, Barali, Dungi, Barnala, Mehmoona Joya, Sarjal, Mudrike and Bahawalpur.
The escalation between India and Pakistan intensified after Pakistan launched drone attacks targeting Indian sites. Misri said on May 8 that Pahalgam terror attack was "original escalation" by Pakistan and India responded in "controlled, precise, measured, considered and non-escalatory" manner through precise strikes on terror infrastructure early on Wednesday.
