Farmers Protest Live: Centre's proposal is not in the interest of farmers, says SKM leader

Farmers resume the "Delhi Chalo" protest march on February 21 after their latest round of talks with the government failed to end the impasse. Farmers had suspended the stir for two days to consider Centre's proposals, which they rejected and decided to march on the Capital.

Authorities have implemented specific traffic restrictions along Delhi borders and in National Capital Region (NCR) cities such as Gurugram and Noida. Heightened security measures have been enforced at the borders, including substantial barricading.

The Tikri and Singhu border points along Delhi have been sealed to prevent a breach. The Delhi Police has confirmed a massive deployment of security personnel, along with multi-layered barricades, iron nails, and concrete barriers at these locations.

Two lanes at the Ghazipur border have been closed, expected to cause substantial traffic disruptions. The Delhi Police has also hinted at the possibility of shutting down the border if necessary. In addition to border closures, the Delhi Police has advised commuters to avoid specific routes on February 21 due to special traffic arrangements in the national capital.

The Delhi Traffic Police took to microblogging site X, announcing the traffic curbs to be imposed in view of the protests, "On 21-02-24, due to special traffic arrangements kindly avoid IP Marg in both the carriageways from IP Flyover towards A-point and vice-versa, ITO Chowk, DDU Marg, BSZ marg, JLN Marg, Shanti Van crossing and Rajghat crossing from 0930 hrs to 1130 hrs.

Traffic restrictions are also expected in Noida and Gurugram. Farmers plan to march in Greater Noida's Knowledge Park, passing through the India Expo Mart, Sharda University, and LG roundabout. Diversions may be implemented from Galgotia Cut, Pari Chowk, LG roundabout, Moser Bear roundabout, and Surajpur Chowk if needed.

Shambhu and Khanauri points on Punjab's border with Haryana have witnessed increased security as farmers continue to gather at the borders.

Due to security concerns, bulk SMS and mobile internet services remain suspended in seven districts in Haryana. While traffic restrictions are anticipated at the Delhi-Gurugram border, no official advisory has been issued yet.
