Congress is more confident about Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's resignation, says BJP's R Ashoka

Following the approval of the prosecution order against Siddaramaiah by Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, many  BJP leaders sought the CM's resignationa over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case. This sparked rumours that the position of the Karnataka Chief Minister will soon be vacant.

Amidst the speculation, a number of Karnataka leaders conveyed their enthusiasm for the Chief Minister post.

BJP leader R Ashoka responded to this issue by saying that everyone is making claims in a race and that Congress leaders are more certain than BJP leaders that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will step down.

Karnataka Assembly LoP and BJP leader R Ashoka responded to the rumors by saying,"More than BJP the Congress leaders have more confidence that Siddaramaiah will resign. A race is going on and everybody is claiming to be the CM. No development is happening in Karnataka."

"All the Congress leaders know that CM Siddaramaiah will be removed," stated CT Ravi, a Karnataka BJP MLC. Many Congress party leaders are claiming to be the Chief Minister of Karnataka."

In a challenge to the Congress party, BJP leader Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan stated that the party need to move against its chief minister, Siddaramaiah, if it has any regard for the Constitution, democracy, or the law of the nation.

BJP leader Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said, "Having aspirations is a positive thing but giving statements against each other, pulling each other leg is not fair...It is showing differences in the Congress party. People are getting ready for replacement. It's a good development. Since the present Chief Minister is facing a lot of corruption charges, he should quit. The Congress should have taken the immediate decision to remove the present Chief Minister. We respect the law of the land. If the Congress party has any respect for the Constitution, democracy or the law of the land it should take action against its CM."

The Karantaka Governor's office informed the State's high court earlier on August 31 that permission to prosecute Karnataka Chief Minister K Siddaramaiah in the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scandal was given only after "application of mind."

State ministers and lawmakers staged a "Raj Bhavan Chalo" protest on the same day, sparking controversy over Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's approval of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's prosecution.

The Congress has charged the Governor with discriminatory behavior, alleging that he has not taken any decisions in respect to several other instances that are still pending before him.

In a dispute over a mining lease, protesters also called for the prosecution of Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

The prosecution of Siddaramaiah in relation to alleged corruption in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allocation to his wife was approved by Thaawarchand Gehlot.
