The Border Security Force (BSF) has neutralized a Pakistani intruder in Punjab's Ferozepur sector on the intervening night of May 7-8, sources told ANI.
The intruder from Pakistan was observed crossing the International Border purposefully and moving towards border security fence taking advantage of darkness.
According to sources, he was fired upon by vigilant BSF troops after challenging in the Ferozepur sector. After day break the body was handed over to the police, ANI reported.
This came amid heightened security across bordering regions as tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after New Delhi struck nine terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor.
The operation was carried out to avenge the death of 26 civilians in Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
