Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg died on September 19 in a swimming accident while scuba diving in Singapore. The police officials are currently investigating his death, after reports alleged foul play.
However, there has been a latest update on the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of Zubeen Garg in Singapore.
According to India Today, Zubeen Garg’s cousin, Sandipan Garg, who is also an Assam Police Service (APS) officer, has been arrested in connection with the late singer's death.
Sandipan Garg will be presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court today.
The reports have suggested that Sandipan was allegedly with Zubeen Garg when the incident occurred. Sandipan has been arrested after a series of interrogations by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Sandipan, along with several close friends of Zubeen Garg, had previously been questioned.
Previously, four people were taken into custody by the SIT in connection with the case, including Zubeen Garg's manager Siddharath Sharma, event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswamiand musician Amritprava Mahanta.
Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, a member of Zubeen Garg's band, had initially claimed that Siddharath was heard yelling, "Jabo de, jabo de" (let him go, let him go) when Zubeen was struggling to breathe and nearly drowned in the sea off Singapore.
Shekhar also alleged that the festival organiser, Shyamkanu and manager Siddharth poisoned the singer.

Adding to the mysterious circumstances, Assam Police have discovered Rs 1 crore in the bank accounts of two of the late singer's personal security guards.
Zubeen Garg was a well-known singer in the Bollywood, Assamese and Bengali music industries. He is known for his breakthrough song in the film Gangster. He sang 'Ya Ali' for the film and earned the Best Playback Singer award at the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) in 2006.
