Right then! West Indies go up in the series after winning the Opening game here. The series moves onto its next game to be played on the 2nd of November and it starts at 1.30 pm GMT. Join us a bit early for the game as we bring you all the pre match excitement. Till then, have a great day!

Shai Hope, the captain of West Indies says that the opening bowlers set the tone and they strive for early wickets and is happy with what they did today. Adds that they were much more consistent with their lines and lengths in this game and would want to be consistent going forward as well. Adds that Evin Lewis has been around for some time and he is hungry to get those runs and it was great to see him great a start.

England captain Liam Livingstone reflects on the game, emphasizing the importance of building a solid score in ODI cricket, particularly from a top-six batter going big. He acknowledges that while 50 overs offer ample time to set a competitive total, West Indies’ bowlers made that difficult today. Livingstone credits them for their effective performance and highlights Turner as a significant force, calling him a game-changer whose impact was clear to everyone watching.

Gudakesh Motie is the Player of the Match for his four-wicket haul. He starts by saying that the conditions were different in Sri Lanka as it was spinning more there and here it was pretty less. Adds that he tried to bowl a straight line and keep it simple. Mentions that the bowling from the other end was tight as well which helped him get those four wickets and he had a practice session yesterday where he looked to slow the pace down and it worked.

... TIME FOR PRESENTATIONS ...

Rain caused a delay, but once play resumed without any overs lost, West Indies’ chase was clinical. Openers Evin Lewis and Brandon King started cautiously, adapting to the wicket before Lewis unleashed his firepower. He hammered the English bowlers all over the ground in a blistering 94 off 69 balls, setting up a solid foundation for a comfortable West Indies win. The rain interrupted once again, cutting the game short to 35 overs with a revised target of 157 runs for West Indies. Both the openers went back into the hut and it was the pair of Shai Hope and Keacy Carty to bring the game home.

England’s middle order showed some resistance, with Liam Livingstone (48 off 49) and Sam Curran (37 off 56) building a 72-run partnership that gave their side a fighting chance. However, Gudakesh Motie’s spell turned the game on its head. With remarkable precision and spin, Motie dismantled the English lineup, claiming four crucial wickets, including those of Livingstone and Curran. His 4/41 from 10 overs made him the standout bowler as England was ultimately bowled out for 209.

West Indies have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after a commanding eight-wicket victory over England in a rain-affected encounter. Winning the toss, the West Indies elected to bowl on a tricky pitch, a decision that proved fruitful. England’s openers, Phil Salt and Will Jacks, managed a steady 39-run opening stand but were soon dismissed by Jayden Seales. Following this, Jordan Cox and Jacob Bethell added 40 runs for the third wicket, before Matthew Forde’s return to the attack disrupted the momentum, dismissing both set batters and leaving England struggling at 93/4.

25.5There it is, Shai Hope hits the winning runs and seals the deal for West Indies in this 1st ODI. Liam Livingstone pushes this one through flat and at the pads, Hope presses back and works it away through square leg for a couple of runs. West Indies WIN BY 8 WICKETS!

Shai Hope, the skipper comes out to bat for West Indies.

Adil Rashid floats the ball up quite full and around off, Lewis goes deep in the crease and tries to force the lofted shot over long off. He ends up slicing it high and wide of long off where Jacob Bethell runs across and pouches it safely. End of a top knock as Lewis departs for 94 runs.

22.2NOT OUT! A bit of a forced review that from England. Flat and full around leg, Evin Lewis goes down to sweep but misses and the ball comes off the pads to short fine leg. Half a shout for LBW which is turned down but Liam Livingstone has reviewed it. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows that it is pitching outside leg.

Is that Out? Adil Rashid and England take the review to see if Evin Lewis is out LBW or not.

Liam Livingstone with a big of a drag-down around middle, King goes onto the back foot and pulls it flat towards deep square leg. There's not much elevation on it and Will Jacks leaps up to take a sharp catch just inside the ropes and England finally have a breakthrough.

18.6Fired in full and outside off, jammed out by Lewis.

18.5SIX! Gets it bang out of the middle this time! Tossed up, right in the slot and around off, Evin Lewis hits through the line and whacks the ball a long way over long off for his 7th biggie of the match.

18.4Evin Lewis was looking to hit that one out of the park. Fuller in length and outside off, Lewis frees his arms to go over mid off but gets a thick outside edge over short third for a couple of runs.

16.2Holds the length back on the stumps. Evin Lewis stays back and taps it back to the bowler.

16.1Edged away! Tosses the ball up and away from the off stump. Brandon King looks to play the cover drive but gets the outside edge to the left of point and the ball almost goes into the boundary but is pulled back by the English fielder. The batters take three runs.

15.6FOUR! Evin Lewis doesn't seem to have lost any momentum after that rain interval and gets right back on it. Around the wicket, bowling the off-break, tossed up full and wide, Lewis steps across and powers it wide of long off for a boundary.

15.3Tosses it up again a bit full and at the stumps, King blocks it off.

15.2Excellent review! Oh, hello! A wicket almost instantly after the resumption but Brandon King has reviewed it. Liam Livingstone pushes this one through flatter and bowls it around middle and leg. The ball skids on after pitching and King gets caught on the crease while looking to pull. The replays roll in and there's no bat involved but Ball Tracking shows that it is pitching outside leg. NOT OUT!

15.1Nice and full, floated up on the stumps, Brandon King manages to block it out.

15.1WIDE! An extra to begin with from Liam Livingstone. Bowls the leg break to the right-hander and slips it down the leg side.

With everything ready for the start, the skipper Liam Livingstone getting his fields right! Let's play!

The Players and the umpires are back on the field. Brandon King and Evin Lewis come out to bat again for West Indies after the break and Liam Livingstone will start the attack for England after the break.

We are back! The revised playing conditions are that West Indies need 76 more runs to win in 120 balls which means it is a 35-overs chase with the target being 157 runs. Each bowler can now bowl a maximum of 7 overs as well. Don't go anywhere as the resumption is around the corner.

UPDATE - 12.51 am GMT - It's been quite a while since the rain has stopped and hopefully, we get a resumption time soon as conditions have gotten better in Antigua. Also, West Indies are already 48 runs ahead of the DLS par score, so, they just need 20 overs to get completed and we now have a start time as well. The game will resume at 1.10 am GMT and we should get an update on the revised playing conditions soon. Stay tuned.

UPDATE - 12.04 am GMT - Oh no! Rain has returned in Antigua, and this time, it’s heavier. The groundsmen have quickly rushed in with the covers to protect the pitch. For those following closely, remember that at least 20 overs need to be completed for the DLS method to come into play. Fingers crossed for clearer skies so we can get back to the action soon!

This one turns back in sharply as well and Brandon King gets pegged on the back foot, looking to defend but he misses and gets pinged on the pads. More than half an appeal but it is turned down.
