Tata Motors' Curvv ICE and EV bag 5-star safety rating at BNCAP: Watch the crash test

    Tata Motor's latest mid-SUV segment car Curvv as well as Curvv.EV, along with Nexon, have earned 5-Star Safety Ratings in both Adult as well as Child Occupant Protection category, as per the latest Bharat NCAP crash test results.

    Curvv.ev scored 30.81/32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), and 44.83/49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP) from BNCAP, Tata Motors said. Watch the video of the crash test right here.

    Tata Curvv comes equipped with 6 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, and Advanced ESP. Curvv also offers Electronic Parking Brake and Auto Hold, even on steep inclines. A feature called Blind Spot Detection offers radar-based alert keeps a check on vehicles while changing lanes. Its Adaptive Cruise Control offers the feature of automatically adjusted speed, as part of its driver assist. There is an E-Call and B-Call feature, offering assistance in case of a medical emergency or a break down.

    Electric vehicles now account for 12 percent of Tata Motors' sales, and the company claims to have an EV portfolio that the largest in India. This growth comes just four years after the launch of the first EV - Nexon.

    Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) is a safety assessment of Indian cars based on various parameters, which are aligned with global testing protocols. Based on the findings of the test, BNAP issues ratings to car manufacturers on the safety of the cars. Bharat NCAP was launched in August 2023 to improve road safety by raising safety standards of vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in India. Potential car customers can refer to these star ratings to compare the safety standards of different vehicles, and accordingly make their decision.

    Government is of the view that high safety standards will ensure Indian cars are better equipped to compete in the global market, thus increasing the export potential of car made in India.
