In a market that is smitten with uncertainty, and where investors are wary about where to park their money, here is a list of six smallcap stocks you must know about and why.

Gemini Communications

The stock is up 10%.

Why?

The company has shelved its plan to conduct an initial public offer for unit PointRed Telecom, and is now looking to sell a stake of up to 15% to a private equity investor for Rs 100-120 crore.

Kohinoor Foods

The stock has surged 15%.

Why?

US spicemaker McCormick is looking at buying 85% in a joint venture with Kohinoor foods for USD 115 million in a bid to promote and sell the latter's basmati rice and food products in India.

PBA Infra

The stock is up 10%

Why?

The joint venture has won an order worth Rs 425 crore to improve and widen Bhuj-Bhachau Road.

Timex

The stock rose 15%.

Why?

It was trading with 11 times volumes to 10 day average. The group reported a 303% rise in net profit with a 27% jump in its net sales in 2010-11 over last year.
