The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially shortlisted a massive 366,712 candidates for the main examination for recruitment to 7,994 Lekhpal posts. This announcement has set the stage for one of the most competitive recruitment cycles in the state’s recent history.
According to the shortlist released by UPSSSC on Thursday, candidates have been selected for the main examination based on their scores in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET). With 366,712 candidates vying for just 7,994 positions, the math paints a clear picture of the challenges ahead—approximately 46 candidates will compete for each single Lekhpal post.
This level of competition underscores the desirability of the Lekhpal position, which offers job security, attractive pay, and long-term career growth within the Uttar Pradesh government. The revenue accountant posts, classified under Pay Level 3, come with a starting basic salary of ₹21,700 and total monthly emoluments ranging between ₹28,000 to ₹32,000.

Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates also need to meet this benchmark, while the cutoff for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates is 47.50 points .
These cutoff marks will be crucial for candidates to understand their standing as they prepare for the next stage. Factors influencing these cutoffs include the total number of test-takers, available vacancies, and the difficulty level of the PET.

The 7,994 Lekhpal vacancies have been distributed across various categories following state reservation norms. The largest share goes to the unreserved category with 3,205 posts, followed by OBC with 2,158 vacancies. Scheduled Castes have 1,679 positions reserved, while EWS and Scheduled Tribe candidates can compete for 792 and 160 posts respectively.
