SAM’s senior partner Iqbal Khan and his team to join JSA

Full service law firm JSA Advocates & Solicitors is set to enhance its footprint in corporate and M&A practice as a team of 18-20 lawyers from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas(SAM) headed by Iqbal Khan and Ambarish are set to join JSA, said sources.

Iqbal is currently a senior partner at SAM and will be National Corporate Lead at JSA. He will further collaborate with the partners at JSA to build and even stronger firm.

Iqbal was one of the first equity partners to join the Mumbai office of SAM after the split of the erstwhile firm of Amarchand Mangaldas, over nine years ago. His expertise lies in large complex private equity and M&A transactions (listed, unlisted and cross-border), and has worked with Paul Weiss and Kirkland and Ellis in the United States, before moving to India.

Ambarish is an Equity Partner at SAM and has been with SAM (and erstwhile Amarchand) for 16 years. He specialises in transactions involving listed companies and SEBI related matters. Ambarish has also spent time in Japan.

Based on publicly available information, Iqbal and Ambarish have led some of the largest M&A and PE transactions, involving Advent, Bain, TPG, Biocon, L&T, LIC, PharmEasy, Reliance, TATA and several other marquee domestic and international clients.
