Indian cricketer and T20 international captain Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha have purchased two luxury apartments at Godrej Properties-developed Godrej Sky Terraces project in Deonar, near Chembur in north-eastern Mumbai.

According to documents accessed by Square Yards, Suryakumar and Devisha paid Rs 21.11 crore for the two apartments, with the deal being registered earlier in March.

Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently playing in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians, has long-standing ties to the Deonar-Chembur area, with him currently residing there at another upscale residential development. He grew up in nearby Anushakti Nagar, the residential colony for employees of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and other allied nuclear energy facilities in the area.

Moneycontrol has reached out to Suryakumar's representatives for comment, and the story will be updated if and when the responses are received.

The two apartments have a total carpet area of 4,222.76 square feet, being located on consecutive floors. The Godrej Sky Terraces project features three and four bedroom apartments, with Godrej Properties developing the project on the site of the legendary actor and director Raj Kapoor's former bungalow, known as RK Cottage. The company bought the land in 2023 for about Rs 100 crore from members of the Kapoor family, with possession expected in 2029.

Godrej Properties is also developing another Kapoor-family linked property in the vicinity, namely RK Studios, which has been ready for possession since January 2024.

Developers have carried out large-scale business development in the Chembur-Deonar area, owing to its relative proximity to southern and central Mumbai. Connectivity to the area, once considered a major lacuna owing to the Harbour Line of the Mumbai suburban railway being the only viable choice, has been improving owing to the Eastern Freeway, as well as the upcoming extension to the Yellow Line of the Mumbai Metro.
