Screenwriter Javed Akhtar buys another property in Juhu worth Rs 7.76 crore

The property is located in the Sagar Samrat Building in Juhu --- also home to many luxury real estate and celebrities.

Noted screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar has purchased a property in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu neighbourhood for Rs 7.76 crore, according to documents accessed and reviewed by SquareYards.

The ready-to-move-in property covers about 1199.42 square feet. The transaction completed on July 2, included a stamp duty of Rs 46.02 lakh and a registration fee of Rs 30,000.

The property is located in the Sagar Samrat Building in Mumbai's Juhu, the upscale area that is home to several other luxury properties and celebrities.

According to SquareYards, Akhtar had bought an adjoining apartment spanning 1218.47 square feet for Rs 7 crore in 2021. He currently resides in this cooperative housing society and lives in an apartment on a different floor (apart from these two properties), the company said.

Queries sent to Akhtar did not get any response.

Bollywood actors beeline for luxury real estate in Mumbai

Mumbai recently saw several large-ticket real estate deals in the luxury real estate segment. On June 25, actor Aamir Khan acquired an apartment in Mumbai's Pali Hill for Rs 9.75 crore.

On June 20, Amitabh Bachchan purchased three office units in the Veer Savarkar Signature building in Mumbai for around Rs 60 crore. These office spaces are located in the Signature Building, off Veera Desai Road in the Andheri West area of Mumbai.

Additionally, on June 3, actress Triptii Dimri, known for roles in films like Animal, Bulbbul, and Qala among others, bought a luxury property in Mumbai's Bandra West for Rs 14 crore.
