The Government of India has set November 19 as the date of disbursement for 21st installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana to provide annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per eligible family of landholding farmers.
The PM-KISAN Yojana is a central-sponsored scheme launched on February 24, 2019 for eligible farmer families. According to government records, more than Rs 3.70 lakh crores have been disbursed to over 11 crore farmer families in the country through 20 instalments.
The 21st installment of PM-KISAN will disburse around Rs 18 crore to nine crore farmers. Notably, the scheme dedicates over 25 percent of its benefits to women beneficiaries.
Here’s the eligibility, registration, and step-wise process to check PM-KISAN status for family of farmers to avail of government’s financial assistance.
Who is eligible?
Under the scheme, the government provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per farmer family for the next five years provided that landholding farmers details are seeded in PM KISAN portal, along with their bank account details linked with Aadhaar and completing their e-KYC.
A landholder farmer’s family should comprise of husband, wife and minor children who owns cultivable land as per land records of the concerned state and UTs.
The benefit is not transferred if the any of the family members hold constitutional posts, serving or retired government employees, or professionals at private institutions, and have paid income tax in last assessment year.
How to register for PM-KISAN?
Farmers can register themselves through the official website of PM-KISAN or mobile app. Registrations can also be done at nearby Common Service Centers (CSC) or visit to the nearest India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
The government maintains that Aadhaar number is an important pillar in PM-KISAN for establishing the identity of the beneficiaries. Farmers have the option to complete e-KYC through OTP, bio metric, or face authentication.
Once the details are verified, landholding family farmers get Rs 6,000 per annum for next five years with February 1, 2019 being the cut-off date. The deposit is made directly into the beneficiaries’ bank account.

The process to check PM-KISAN can be done online through its official website under the ‘Farmers Corner’ section, and check their status using the new "Know Your Status" feature.
