Maruti Suzuki's first plant in Kharkoda to be operational by 2025; will add 2.5 lakh cars a year to production

Maruti Suzuki plans to set up four such plants in Kharkoda with a total capacity of 10 lakh units

Maruti Suzuki India's first plant in the Kharkoda, Haryana project is on course and will be operational by 2025, said the company's management at the Q4 FY24 earnings conference call.

The plant is said to have an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh cars. Maruti Suzuki plans to set up four such plants in Kharkoda with a total capacity of 10 lakh units.

The plants will be set up by Jay Bharat Maruti Ltd , a joint venture between JBM Group and Maruti Suzuki India. Jay Bharat Maruti in an exchange filing had also said that the plant is expected to cater to the requirements of Maruti Suzuki India, its key customer in Haryana.

Maruti Suzuki at present has a total capacity to make 2.35 million units per year, split across its manufacturing plants at Gurgaon and Manesar in Haryana and Hansalpur in Gujarat.

Recently, at the vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, Maruti Suzuki signed a memorandum of understanding with Gujarat government to set up a new automobile manufacturing facility, said the management. However, this facility is subject to suitable land and other parameters.

Maruti Suzuki India on Friday reported a 48 percent year-on-year rise in its net profit to Rs 3,878 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2024, on account of higher sales volume and favourable commodity prices. The company’s profit after tax (PAT) during the corresponding period last year stood at Rs 2,624 crore.

The country's largest carmaker registered a revenue of Rs 38,235 crore in the three months ended March 31. Additionally, the company declared its highest-ever dividend of Rs 125 per share. Analysts had projected a profit of Rs 3,916 crore on a revenue of Rs 38,772 crore.
