Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced its Technology Strategy Briefing 2025, emphasizing energy minimization and carbon neutrality through various initiatives, including biogas and sustainable components.

The company is focusing on five key pillars of technology development based on the philosophy of “Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi (Smaller, Fewer, Lighter, Shorter, Beauty)” to realize a carbon-neutral society. These pillars include light-weight and safety body, high-efficiency ICE/CNF technology, lean-battery BEV/HEV, SDV right, and circular economy.

Progress in Minimization of Energy:

Light-weight and Safety Body: The company has achieved an 80kg weight reduction and is pursuing a target of 100kg through “Just Right” optimization.

High-efficiency ICE/CNF Technology: The “Super Ene-Charge” system is being developed as a hybrid system for lightweight vehicles. All motorcycle and automobile models are now compatible with E20 fuel, with mass production of FFV models for motorcycles started and automobile launch planned this fiscal year.

Lean-Battery BEV/HEV: Suzuki unveiled its first battery EV, the new e VITARA, in the overseas market. The e-Address, announced in India, is positioned as a lean battery, just-right electric scooter. The e VITARA incorporates the concept of SDV right.

Circular Economy: The company is focusing on material integration for easier recycling, design for easy disassembly, reduction of plastic components, use of recycled plastics, and establishment of recovery schemes.

Carbon Neutrality Initiatives:

CN Challenge: The “Team Suzuki CN Challenge” participated in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race with a machine powered by 100% sustainable fuel and components made from sustainable materials, finishing in 33rd place overall.

Biogas: Suzuki is converting manure from India's 300 million cattle into biogas, a carbon-neutral fuel, and organic fertilizer. The biogas will be used directly in CNG vehicles. Suzuki, with India's dairy cooperatives, is constructing biogas production plants, which will begin operations sequentially from 2025.

Manufacturing: The “Suzuki Smart Factory” utilizes digital technologies to visualize operations, improve quality and productivity, and minimize energy consumption in manufacturing. The newly opened painting plant at the Kosai Plant has significantly reduced energy usage by implementing zoning.

Suzuki aims to become an infrastructure mobility closely connected with people's lives, guided by its Philosophy of Conduct. The company is committed to providing mobility that supports customers in every scene of their lives.
