Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were observed trimming their holdings in several Adani Group companies during the June 2025 quarter, with six out of eight firms witnessing stake reductions totaling around Rs 4,640 crore, according to data from shareholding pattern on BSE.

Interestingly, the GQG Partners stake in most group firms remained the same except for one, and selling was observed among other FIIs. However, the names of the FIIs that sold were not mentioned in the shareholding.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd recorded the largest divestment, with FIIs offloading shares worth around Rs 1,833 crore. The FII stake in the company declined to 15.85 percent from 17.58 percent in the previous quarter. Notably, Abu Dhabi-based IHC Capital Holding’s subsidiary, Envestcom Holding RSC, reduced its holding in Adani Energy Solutions to 2.68 percent from 4.6 percent.

Ambuja Cements Ltd followed, with FIIs selling shares worth Rs 1,662 crore, bringing their stake down to 7.44 percent from 8.6 percent in the March quarter. GQG Partners, previously a key investor, is no longer listed among shareholders; however, it remains unclear whether the firm has fully exited or simply reduced its stake below the one percent threshold.

In Adani Green Energy Ltd, FIIs pared down their investment by Rs 924 crore, reducing their holding to 11.58 percent from 12.45 percent. Other firms in the group also saw moderate sell-offs, including Adani Enterprises Ltd (Rs 490 crore), Adani Total Gas Ltd (Rs 152 crore), and ACC Ltd (Rs 62 crore).

Conversely, buying interest was noted in Adani Ports & SEZ and Adani Power Ltd, with FIIs increasing their stakes by Rs 284 crore and Rs 200 crore, respectively.

Meanwhile, domestic mutual funds showed selective interest in Adani Group stocks, with marginal buying across some firms. However, ACC witnessed selling pressure from mutual funds during the quarter.
