BEML secures 'substantial order' worth Rs 246.78 crore from Central Coalfields

    Heavy earthmoving equipment maker BEML has secured a substantial order worth Rs 246.78 crore from Central Coalfields (CCL), to supply 48 rear dump trucks, along with spares and after-sales service support, the company said on November 20.

    The BH60M Rear Dump Trucks are high-performance vehicles powered by a Cummins engine delivering 480 kW (644 FHP) at 2000 rpm, paired with an advanced Allison transmission, BEML said. With a payload capacity of 54,500 kg, the trucks are engineered to meet the rigorous demands of mining operations.

    Shares of BEML are higher by 29% on a YTD basis. The management has maintained FY25 guidance of about 20% revenue, driven by higher execution in defense and steady growth in mining.

    "This order is a testament to our enduring partnership with Central Coalfields Limited and highlights BEML’s unwavering commitment to delivering innovative, reliable, and high-performance mining solutions," BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy said.

    The mining and construction business contributed around 42% to BEML's FY24 sales, and the company sees demand in this segment to stay strong. The company claims to have an indigenization levels of over 90% for most equipment in the mining segment.

    BEML is also developing products to capture a larger share in the high-capacity mining sector. The company has a crucial role to play in India’s push to reduce import dependency and enhance coal production. Given tge geopolitical landscape, the company has seen CIS countries, African nations and Indonesia seek supplies for their mining requirements, BEML has said in the past.
