Hindalco Q4 results: A look at the highlights

Hindalco posted a 31 per cent hike in Q4 profit as robust demand in business segments like copper helped the firm to boost margins amid lower costs. Board has recommended dividend of Rs 3.50 for the year ended March 31, 2024.

    Aditya Birla Group flagship Hindalco Industries has reported a 31.6 percent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,174 crore for the March quarter, on the back of robust sales with low raw material costs across business segments. Profit was Rs 2,411 crore in the same quarter last year.

    Let's take a look at the key points from  the company's fourth-quarter and full-year results.

    Q4 performance

    • Net profit jumped 31.6 percent to Rs 3,174 crore, helped by higher sales and lower costs
    • Revenue from operations remained flat at Rs 55,994 crore
    • Consolidated EBITDA at Rs 7,201 crore, was up 24 percent on-year
    • India business EBITDA at Rs 3,637 crore was up 25 percent over last year

    FY Performance
    • FY24 revenue at Rs 2,15,962 crore, went down 3 percent from last year
    • EBITDA was up 7 percent on-year to Rs 25,728 crore
    • Profit after Tax (PAT) edged up 1 percent to Rs 10,155 crore
    • Hindalco India business EBITDA at Rs 11,195 crore, rallied 6 percent

    Copper Business
    • Copper business Q4 EBITDA at Rs 776 crore was up 30 percent YoY, backed by record sales
    • Quarterly revenue stood at Rs 3,424 crore, up 20 percent  YoY
    • In Q4 FY24, market demand for refined copper increased 15 percent YoY at 225 kt vs 196 KT in Q4 FY23.

    Aluminium (India)
    • Quarterly upstream revenue was RS 8,469 crore in Q4 FY24 vs Rs 8,050 in Q4FY 23.
    • Q4 Aluminium Upstream EBITDA stood at Rs 2,709 crore in Q4 FY24, up 24 percent YoY, and up 11 percent QoQ, supported by lower input costs
    • Downstream revenue was Rs 2,920 crore in Q4 FY24 vs Rs 2,738 crore a year back
    • Sales of downstream aluminium stood at 105 KT vs 90 KT in Q4 FY23, up 17 percent  YoY. Downstream EBITDA per tonne was $174 in Q4 FY24, compared to $152 for Q4 FY23, up 15 percent  YoY.
