Google recently announced the Pixel 9 Pro alongside three other Pixel 9 smartphones. We now compare it against the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Google has announced the Google Pixel 9 Pro with the latest Tensor G4 SoC and other new features. It also has an upgraded design, triple cameras, an IP68 rating, and more. There are two more contenders in the high-end price bracket — the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Let us see which one’s better.

Display

The Google Pixel 9 Pro features a 6.3-inch Super Actua OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and LTPO 1 to 120Hz refresh rate. The display has a pixel density of 495 PPI and 3000 nits peak brightness. It also has HDR certification and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra offers a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED panel, with a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and can reach a peak brightness of 2600 nits. It has the newer Corning Gorilla Armor Glass protection and is HDR-certified.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with LTPO support and up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It has support for up to 2000 nits of peak brightness and has Ceramic Shield protection.

Performance

As we mentioned earlier, the Pixel 9 Pro is powered by Google’s latest Tensor G4 chip along with the Titan M2 security chip. It has 16GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. On the other hand, the S24 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. Both smartphones currently run on Android 14 with up to seven years of promised software updates.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is powered by Apple’s A17 Pro chipset with up to 1TB of storage options available. It is currently running on iOS 17 with a planned upgrade to iOS 18 in the coming weeks. Apple has guaranteed that the phone will at least get five years of software updates.

Camera

The Google Pixel 9 Pro has a triple camera setup on the rear with a 50MP Octa PD Samsung GNK primary camera. The other sensors include a 48MP Quad PD ultrawide camera and a 48MP Quad PD telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom support. There’s also a 42MP Dual PD Sony IMX858 selfie snapper.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has a quad camera setup with a 200MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP periscope lens, which enables support for 100X digital zoom. For selfies, Samsung uses a 12MP selfie snapper with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 48MP primary camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto with up to 5x optical zoom support, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. All the phones can shoot stable 4K 60FPS videos as they have optical image stabilization (OIS) support.

Battery

The Google Pixel 9 Pro comes with a 4700 mAh battery that supports 27W wired charging and 21.5 W wireless charging. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is backed up by a bigger 5000 mAh battery with 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a smaller 4441 mAh battery with support for 27W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has a starting price of Rs 1,29,999, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro starts at Rs 109,999. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is the costliest among these devices and has a starting price of Rs 1,51,700.
