United Spirits Q4 results: Net profit jumps 88% to Rs 384 crore, firm declares Rs 5 dividend

    Diageo-controlled liquor maker United Spirits Ltd on May 24 reported a standalone net profit of Rs 384 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 2024. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 204 crore.

    Revenue from operations increased 10 percent to Rs 6,394 crore from Rs 5,783 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

    USL's total expenses in the March quarter were Rs 6,132 crore.

    Its total income in the March quarter was Rs 6,623 crore.

    USL's EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for Q4FY24 was up 7 percent to Rs 361 crore and 31 percent to Rs 1,708 crore in FY24. Margin stood at 13.6 percent in Q4FY24 and and 16 percent in FY24.

    Net sales value for Q4FY24 was 7 percent up at Rs 2,666 crore.

    USL, which has brands such as McDowell's, Royal Challenge, Signature, Johnnie Walker and Black Dog in its fold, also said that its board ha recommended a dividend of Rs 5 per share for the financial year ending 31 March, 2024.

    Commenting on the results, Hina Nagarajan, CEO & Managing Director, said,“We have ended fiscal year 2023-24 delivering our double-digit growth guidance and returned to mid teen margins amidst challenging external environment. The year witnessed sequentially moderating demand on the back of sustained consumer inflation and post pandemic consumption normalisation."

    Nagarajan also added, "Our most iconic trademark is being renovated and stretched upwards under the new “House of McDowell’s” umbrella that will see it reach new consumers in different sub segments and formats."

    Modern Made in India Luxury, Godawan 100 was recently crowned “Single Malt Whisky of the Year” at the London Spirits Competition, a premier event in the Global Beverage Alcohol industry. "This sets the stage for us to enter the new fiscal year with even more confidence in our strategy," Nagarjan added.

    Further, on the win of RCB team in Women's Premier League, the CEO & MD addede, "We are immensely proud of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women’s Premier League (WPL) team, which is owned by our 100% subsidiary, Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL), winning the 2 nd edition of the WPL in March 2024."

    Shares of United Spirits closed 0.35 percent higher at Rs 1,178.30 apiece on BSE.
