Kotak Securities has come out with its second quarter (July-September) earnings estimates for the power sector. The brokerage house expects NTPC to report a 15.4 percent degrowth quarter-on-quarter (down 32 percent Y-o-Y) in net profit at Rs 2137.4 crore.

Revenues of NTPC are expected to decrease by 5 percent Q-o-Q (down 8 percent Y-o-Y) to Rs 14,829.4 crore, according to Kotak Securities.

    Kotak Securities' Report on NTPC:

During the quarter, despite capacity additions in FY13, generation has been constrained by lack of demand for power from SEBs. We thus forecast a reduction in profits in Q2FY14.
