Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) on Thursday reported a 22.14 percent rise in consolidated net profit of Rs 1510.49 crore for the September 2024 quarter. It had posted a net profit of Rs 1236.67 crore in the July-September period of the preceding 2023-24 fiscal, the company said in an exchange filing.
The company's total revenue was up 6 percent at Rs 5,976.3 crore during the second quarter against Rs 5,635.7 crore in the same period a year ago.
The Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was up 7.3 percent at Rs 1,604 crore from Rs 1,527.7 crore in the year-ago quarter. The margin was also up on-year at 27.4 percent from 27.1 percent.
Shares of HAL jumped over 2 percent at Rs 4,148.85 per share on the NSE after the declaration of the second quarter earnings.
Hindustan Aeronautics has been in focus under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push for self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat), helping the company bag major defence and manufacturing orders. In May this year, in the run up to general elections, Modi highlighted the impressive performance of PSU stocks citing the example of HAL. “Look at HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd) — it has posted record profit in the fourth quarter of Rs 4,000 crore,” he said.
