Assamese singer Zubeen Garg died in September in a swimming accident while scuba diving in Singapore. The police are currently investigating his death, and the latest reports have left the fans in shock.
According to Times Now, sources have claimed that Assam Police have discovered Rs 1 crore in the bank accounts of two of the late singer's personal security guards.
The singer died under mysterious circumstances in Singapore. The singer was scheduled to attend the fourth NorthEast India Festival.
According to a member of Zubeen Garg's band, festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and manager Siddharth Sharma poisoned the singer.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of nine members is currently looking into the singer’s death.
According to sources, one more person who was on the yacht tour will soon have their statement recorded by the Special Investigation Team.
Four people have been taken into custody by the SIT in connection with the case, including Siddharath Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta.
Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, a member of Zubeen Garg's band, has claimed that when Zubeen was struggling to breathe and nearly drowned in the sea off Singapore, Siddharath was heard yelling, "Jabo de, jabo de" (let him go, let him go).
The documents obtained by the outlet have alleged that Shekhar has alleged that a "conspiracy" had been planned to portray Zubeen Garg's death as an accident.
Meanwhile, Zubeen Garg's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has recently handed over the late singer’s post-mortem examination report to the police. She claimed at the time that it was not her "personal document" and that the best arbiter would determine whether it should be released.
What does the remand note say?According to the outlet, the remand note reads, "During the critical moments when Garg was gasping for breath, almost drowning, Sharma was heard shouting 'Jabo de, jabo de' (let him go, let him go). The witness emphasised that the singer was an expert swimmer who had trained both him and the accused, and therefore could not have drowned.”
The note added, "He (Goswami) alleged that Sharma and Mahanta had poisoned the victim and deliberately chosen a foreign venue to conceal their conspiracy. Sharma also instructed him not to share the yacht videos with anyone.”
The remand note further noted, "The statement of witness Goswami, recorded U/S 175 BNSS, stated that prior to Garg's death, a conspiracy was formulated to portray his death as accidental. He stated that Sharma, who stayed with him in Room No. 3010 at Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore, had displayed suspicious conduct.”
The note was reportedly signed by SIT member and senior SP Rosie Kalita.
