Accenture, a global professional services company, announced on September 19 that it made a strategic investment, through Accenture Ventures, in Writer, a platform that leverages generative AI to assist businesses in developing their content.
The details of the investment are not made public by the US-based firm.
Baiju Shah, chief strategy officer of Accenture Song, a tech-powered creative group, said that the company's commitments to generative AI platforms will enable clients in every sector to revolutionise the way they generate, customise, and disseminate content swiftly.
Shah further said, "We’ve entered a new era of tech-powered creativity and believe Writer’s enterprise-ready platform is a strong addition to Accenture’s comprehensive set of generative AI capabilities, tools and expertise, helping our clients capitalize on a wide range of uses across marketing and sales.”
Accenture said it started using Writer in 2021 to improve its writing abilities, and the company is presently extending its internal use of Writer's generative AI capabilities. It said it is now preparing to offer these capabilities to clients.
According to the findings of Accenture Research, up to 40 percent of all working hours could be affected by LLMs, and 98 percent of global CEOs feel that AI foundation models will be crucial to their organisations' strategies over the next three to five years.
Accenture announced on June 13 this year that it will invest $3 billion into its data and AI practice as well as double the number of AI talent to 80,000. Additionally, Accenture also announced a Center for Advanced AI, which it said will help maximise the value of generative and other AI.
The company was also in the news last month when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) selected Accenture Solutions Pvt Ltd India to develop systems using artificial intelligence and machine learning for its supervisory functions.
Accenture in India, the local arm of the global consulting company, last month said banks, both in the public and private sector, need to invest in their core technology platforms and services.
"Generative AI tools like Writer can drive greater creativity,” said Jill Kramer, chief marketing and communications officer of Accenture. “As we continue to expand the use of AI across our global marketing and communications function, the opportunities to enhance content creation, productivity and our entire marketing model are boundless.”
"It’s pretty simple. Enterprises want impactful and secure generative AI applications, they want them integrated into their tools and workflows, and they want it soon. Writer is the only full-stack generative AI platform, and that is why our customers’ generative AI use cases actually make it to production,” said May Habib, CEO and co-founder of Writer. “Joining Accenture’s ‘Project Spotlight’ program will enable Writer to benefit from Accenture’s expertise from decades of deploying AI across industries and functions, and help us grow by driving broader awareness of our capabilities."
