Former SBI boss joins Tata Steel as independent director

Tata Steel BSE -0.55 percent has appointed former SBI BSE -0.55 percent Chairman O P Bhatt as additional non-executive independent director in hte company with effect from today.

    Tata Steel BSE -0.55 percent has appointed former SBI BSE -0.55  percent Chairman O P Bhatt as additional non-executive independent director in hte company with effect from today.

    The Board of Directors has "appointed O P Bhatt as an additional non-executive independent director on the Board of Tata Steel with effect from June 10, 2013", Tata Steel said in a BSE filing.


    "Bhatt was the former Chairman of State Bank of India BSE -0.55 percent, which is India's largest commercial bank. He is now on the Boards of reputed Indian and foreign companies," it added.


    Bhatt hanged up his boots after a five-year stint as SBI chief on March 31, 2011.

    Shares of the company closed at Rs 290.40 apiece on the BSE, down 0.55 per cent from the previous close.
